The University of Connecticut is recruiting 20 students who self-identify as male to conduct an 11-week program which will attempt to neutralize “mansplaining” and “interrupting others.”

Campus Reform reports the Men’s Project is ironically being hosted by the university’s Women’s Center in an attempt to teach men to “positively influence their peers by challenging social norms that promote gender-based violence.”

The Men’s Project, which frames itself to be more focused on bystander intervention, has a broad agenda, as weekly meetings will include discourse on “topics related to gender socialization, masculinities, social justice and gender-based violence.”

According to the application, which went live last week, all “male-identified students” are welcome to apply.

“In your experience, what are some things you would like to work on, or what are some things you have been told men need to work on? (Ex: Mansplaining, Relationships & Gender Norms, Interrupting Others, etc),” the application asks. It also adds participants may have to prepare for weekly meetings by “reading or journaling.”

Campus Reform reports the program requests “male-identified students” rank their familiarity with social justice issues such as “heterosexism,” “consent,” “cissexism,” and “healthy relationships.”

Students are also warned they may be removed from the program if they miss more than two sessions.

The program will be facilitated by Rhys Hall and Craig Alejos.

They are both clearly qualified for the position as Hall is an undergraduate who focuses on how “Black Masculinity has been developed [and] how it can oppress Black Femininity and Non-Heteronormative identities,” and Alejos studies “fatherhood education and empowerment.”

Campus Reform reports the program is open to enrollment, however, it will focus on more popular students in an attempt to “identify and train individuals who may be seen as having influence with their peers.”

The program also claims it hopes to find “students who relate well to other men.”

It is unclear whether the Men’s Project will use taxpayer funds to support itself as the University of Connecticut did not respond to Campus Reform’s request for comment.

Both Hall and Alejos also declined to comment on the planned echo chamber.

    What does this even mean?
Is someone that “self identifies as a male” actually a guy? Or is it a chick that thinks she’s a guy??

Imagine how many levels of fucked up that would be if a woman identified as a male, and then started being toxically masculine

      • dannilo

        isn’t that called being lesbian?

  • Matthew

All a man has to say to confuse any woman is “It is what it is”.

Cause that’s what women can’t figure out, what the fuck it IS!!!!!!! lol

Matthew – some Yogi Berra quotes work well too — “The future isn’t what it used to be” or “That restaurant is so crowded that nobody goes there any more.”

When I went to UCONN it was a good school. It taught me the scientific paradigm and critical thinking. The skills that now set off my bullsh*t-o-meter. The majors back in the 80’s were engineering, psychology, education and agriculture. Now you can major in puppetry. Good luck with that career. I told the alumni association to stop calling me for money when they paid Clinton $250k for a 20 minute speech.

I know, let’s start a program to help men by first assuming all men are guilty and broken and need fixing in a way that only we can fully understand, and then recruiting people who agree with us 100% to proselytize on our behalf. That ought to go over well, right?

Let’s eliminate “toxic masculinity” so women can go “hyper feminine”.

I hope a ton of guys sign up and none of them go to a single session. who wants to sit in a lecture about why feminists hate them? I bet it’ll be just like that family guy episode where peter goes to sensitivity training

I’d rather see the guys actually go. Then every time one of these broads starts to speak a guy can interrupt her and go ‘blah, blah, blah, yak, yak, yak’ and watch her start to cry.
