Once considered a schoolyard terror, the classic comic book bully is being rebooted for today’s snowflakes as a softer, gentler character.

The newest incarnation of Dennis the Menace is set to be the character’s most politically correct incarnation to date. He’s replaced his old slingshot with an iPad, because toys intended to harm people and smash windows aren’t what its new creators have in mind for the character. Sadly, Dennis doesn’t use his iPad to make fun of people on social media.

Far from the malicious character he used to be, the new Dennis is all about “inclusivity,” according to his producers on the Children’s BBC cartoon.

“We want to be as inclusive as possible,” says Mike Stirling, editorial director of Beano Studios. “In the history of the comic, inclusiveness was not 100 percent there, but I think it’s certainly something we’ve been conscious of in terms of producing new characters. We’re really representing what we see in schools in Britain.”

Of the new characters, one of them is Rubi, a disabled tech geek who rolls around in a wheelchair. The other new character is JJ, a “feisty” black girl.

The new animation sees Dennis forming a garage band with his old friend Pie-Face, Rubi, and JJ. Dennis’s regular target, Walter the Softy, has also been given a makeover. The Daily Mail observed that he bore a striking resemblance to Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg, and is described as “grown-up before his time.”

He’s just Walter now, without the “Softy” moniker, which its creators say they were “uncomfortable” with. When Dennis first showed up in 1951, he would pick on the effeminate Walter. The comic would later face accusations of homophobia.

In the CBBC’s previous reboot of the character in 2009, its makers took an effort to remove parts of his violent personality without defanging him too much. It would be surprising if the new Dennis is even capable of banter these days.

My old comics are practically lethal weapons now.

  • HT

LOL, I love it when they cast they “feisty” black girls, you know, the “you go girl!” type.

Because that’s not racist at all. Liberals are such morons.

    • mike s

You need to start using your brain and you will realize that black people (to their credit) don’t give a **** if you call them “racist.” It is only pansy *** white people who are petrified to be called the oh so scary R-word. So many white people haven’t figured out that lightning does not strike you down when someone calls you a “racist.”

And that is the point…it is not about wanting equality….blacks have correctly identified that white people have become WEAK. So they keep calling white people racist for virtually everything to get us to give up more and more, to shut us up more and more, and to get us to submit more and more, so they can justify wiping us out because we are evil “racists”….just like they are committing genocide against whites in South Africa right now.

Like the great Thomas Sowell says, “The word racism is like ketchup, you can put it on practically anything – and demanding evidence makes you a racist.

So you can be labeled a “Racist” for virtually ANYTHING. Dylan Roof was labeled a racist for killing 10 black people. Ok, fair enough. Well, there was also a pro tennis player woman who was playing in a charity tennis tournament against Serena Williams, and she jokingly mocked Serena Williams for having a big butt, by putting a pillow down her backside during the match. This girl was labeled racist too. Now obviously what Dylan Roof did was 900 million times worse than what this tennis girl did but they are BOTH under the umbrella of “racism.”

So like Sowell says….you CAN’T win. But stupid white people get called racist and get so defensive about it when they have done nothing wrong in the first place. Blacks have successfully got whites to be defensive and getting whites to submit more and more over fear of being called the silly R-word.

The right always says the left are snowflakes…well white people on the right are snowflakes too, because they are SO SCARED to be called the oh so scary R-word.

      • HT

        tl;dr

        • MLMII

That’s ok, I read it for you and you didn’t miss anything of worth.

          • mike s

Notice how you didn’t point out what I was wrong about?

ni$$ers don’t give a damn if you call them racist, only pansy white people are scared to be called a racist.

And obviously what Thomas Sowell says is very much of worth…

“The word racism is like ketchup, you can put it on practically anything – and demanding evidence makes you a racist.”

But since you can’t argue substantively against anything I said…you just say it was nothing of worth, because you don’t know how to think.

          • DaisyToo

You put a great premium on thinking for someone who self-evidently isn’t highly qualified in that particular department.

          • PunJabber

Perhaps what is self-evident to you, needs rational argument for those of us who lack your spontaneous upwellings of arch infallibility.

            Got facts?

          • DaisyToo

I do, but honestly, can’t you just read mike’s comment and see for yourself?

          • PunJabber

I have read mike’s comments, and pointed out where his statements are unclear.

Made as statistical observations of American cultures, what he has said is substantially correct, from all the evidence I’ve seen.
Stated baldly and badly without qualification, they are unsupported assertions about human nature; and that is how they will be taken at every opportunity.

So if you disagree with his factual claims (rather than his tone), please point out where they are wrong.

          • DaisyToo

            No thanks.

          • MLMII

Provide something of substance first and then we’ll go from there, ok sweetie?

          • mike s

My original comment was substance. The OP was trying to call black racists. My point was blacks don’t give a **** if whites call them racist. Only white people care, and are always defending that they are not racist when they get called racist. Why don’t white people just say…Yeah? So what? when called a racist.

          • MLMII

Because we live in a world full of double standards which are selectively enforced, that’s why.

        • mike s

You and most white people don’t know how to use your brains and think. You call blacks racist…..but haven’t figured out that black people don’t give a **** if you call them racist. Only pansy *** white people are scared to be called a racist.

          • PunJabber

Your problem here is that you are conflating “black people” with “ni$$ers”, in defiance of your accolade to Thomas Sowell. Obviously, that is not what you mean, but it provides an excuse to stop reading at that point.

          • mike s

Did you read what I wrote? It is spot on….and you read the whole thing otherwise you wouldn’t have cited the sowell quote that I cited.

White people are stupid. The OP said blacks are racist. Most white people including the OP do not use their brains and do not realize that blacks do not give a damn if you call them racist. Only white people care. White people haven’t realized that lightning does not strike you down when someone calls them a racist.

When I get called racist……I just say …. “yeah? so what?”

Sticks and stones will break my bones…but words will never hurt me…

          • PunJabber

Yes, I read what you wrote. That’s all I know, not what you meant; that, I am only guessing. You are continuing to do what I said. Read the first and third sentences of your second paragraph here. Do you truly not see the difference between “white people are stupid” and “most white people [are stupid]”? Or (earlier) “most (many) black people behave or think in a certain way*” vs “black people do or think [that way]”?

One is a statistical observation, either valid or invalid. The other is a definition, saying “this genotype is equal to that moral (or its plural, political) stature”. One of these positions is racism. The other is not.

If you don’t say exactly what YOU mean, expect people to hear roughly what THEY mean.

            * “ni$$ers”, if you’re trying to goad yourself or others into intense emotion instead of reason.

          • mike s

One of these positions is racist and the other is not? Ok….well…..tell me what “racism” is…because I don’t know what you mean.

          • PunJabber

Racism is the doctrine or belief that the genotype (race) of an individual , rather than his* actions, determines his moral or political standing. “Whites do this” or “Blacks believe that” can reasonably be interpreted as “ALL whites do this” or “Blacks AS SUCH believe that”; because when you equate two concepts without a modifier (“MOST whites do this” or “Blacks ARE PRESSURED TO believe that”) you are defining them as equal.

That is racism. If that isn’t what you mean to be heard, you should be clear in not saying it.

Some terms are inherently racist in the concepts they purport to convey. For example, “reverse racism” implies “views of black people** have different moral or political significance than those of white people”.

            * My pronouns do not pay the “syn tax” to engender political correctness.

** The ambiguity was intentional. Both readings — views HELD BY and views ABOUT black people — are examples of racism.

          • mike s

Ok… you say that is racism….and my response is…. SO WHAT? The term racism is thrown around for every thing imaginable because it was a term made up by communist leon trotsky in old russia… it was what the communists used to smear the non communists. And it is being used the same way today.

If you call me a racist…ill just say yeah? so what? Lightning doesn’t strike me down because you call me a racist. moreover you can be labeled a racist for virtually anything, which is the point…to de-humanize whites in the eyes of minorities so they can eventually wipe us out. Just like the white genocide happening in south africa. Blacks didn’t wake up 1 day and start murdering and killing whites, the govt through propaganda told blacks that whites are the reason for you bad plight in life. And the same thing is happening here now.

          • Michael Allen

“Did you read what I wrote? It is spot on…and you read the whole thing otherwise you wouldn’t have cited the sowell quote I cited.”
Well at least you agree with you, and that’s all that matters.

    • ranterator

Just some more 1984 media control. Literally non-liberal catoons and movies. I guess I am old enough to remember what the word “liberal” used to mean…

      • HT

I hear ya, in college, some 25+ years ago, I actually considered myself somewhat progressive. By today’s liberal standards I was practically a priest lol.

        • Ruth Gauthier

I was one young and a democrat. Today’s republican party is made of of millions of ex democrats who grew up and saw the left falling into the bottomless pit of crap they are in today. The left has gone so far left that they have become the far right they hate so much. The only difference in the Democrats and the extreem far right is the list of who you can like and who you MUST HATE. but both are of the same mind set.

    • ghebert

They should just call this character archetype the “Leslie Jones” character from now on.

    • True.Epic.Crusader

“Feisty girls”= obnoxious annoying females who don’t understand that they’re females.

    • StuffNThingsNStuff

Precisely why Leslie Jones’ Ghostbusters character wasn’t funny. She is the epitome of “overbearing, overaggressive large black woman” which you’d think the SJW director would not want to highlight, but he did

  • Kevin O’Quinn

I’m going to download and save The Road Runner show for my kids while I still can.

    • MLMII

Too late, they’ve already had at least one pass of censorship, although I’m sure more will come.

    • Please do!

  • David Watts

Dennis is now the Menace of Political Correctness. And menacing in no other way, what’s the point of the name again?

    • JuanCarlos

I think they’re going to change the name from Dennis the Menace to Joe Jake the Snowflake.

  • Jerald

SJW comics and films aren’t bad because they are PC, they are the lowest form of entertainment because the writers have no ability to write an engaging 3 dimensional character. Being gay or black is where the defining character depth usually ends. Also, hard to make a real joke when you are afraid of offending the entire world.

    • Marko Barauna Pezelj

Actually, it’s because they are PC too.

  • Jay Harvanek

    I don’t remember Dennis being a bully.

    • Joanna Boese

This is about the UK version, which is known as “Dennis and Gnasher” in the US. Though both series are somewhat similar…

      • PunJabber

You’re almost right. It’s not “the UK version”, because they apparently were completely independent strips which came out at the same time, resulting in a terrific kerfuffle. Thus, the British Dennis wasn’t called “The Menace” — which was pretty Ruff on old Gnasher.

  • Clybourn

    This will fail.

  • Muzz balls

“He’s replaced his old slingshot with an iPad, because toys intended to harm people and smash windows aren’t what its new creators have in mind for the character….”
So no chance of him joining Antifa then?

  • Dudley Morris

You;’d think, as a Brit, Milo would make sure his minions used the right Dennis the Menace for the header picture. Calling Quality Control!

  • DaisyToo

Is he still going to be called “The Menace”? Or is that too crushing for viewers?

    • PunJabber

Oh, not politically correct at all! Because you can’t say “menace” without saying “men”.

      • Robert A’Beuy

        Femenace?

  • Fisterbottom

So they went and cucked Dennis.

    • It’s a shame, I guess some things just never last forever.

  • GTKRWN

He’s a vegan from Cali now, wearing skinny jeans and talking about the high price of the retroviral drugs from his AIDS infection; which was injected unknowingly but completely legally into his ass by one of his many poz’d black boyfriends. But hey, it’s just like the flu. :^) All was good until one wacky scene where he accidentally used the wrong pronoun when dealing with a blue-haired transgender that identifies as a lesbian seagull, which unlike being injected with AIDS is punishable by a year in prison in the Commie Republic. Thankfully a young black girl, a 12 year old genius who wuz smarter than every white person ever, including Tony Stark, went to law school in between building RoboKangz, and was able to argue his case successfully.

  • Marko Barauna Pezelj

Ofc they will do that; they have no ideas of their own, so they have to take other people’s ideas and ruin them because they are sad shits.

  • LarryBundyJr

Wrong Dennis the Menace in the title >.>

    • It’s a shame when they screw up, Larry!

    • Michael Allen

And I am very grateful for that. I was so worried that the yank Dennis was about to get hit with the PC-stick.

  • Jon Quasar

This is the British Dennis the Menace, not the American version. Which I believe came out on the same day in spite of no relations whatsoever.

  • Kilroyishere

So, he’s not Dennis the Menace anymore, he’s Dennis the Multiculturalist. Stirling and his ilk are the real menace.
