When an Austin, Texas movie theater announced they were holding women-only screenings of “Wonder Woman” in June, leftists went wild with delight.
The Alamo Drafthouse, a theater chain, expanded those screenings to New York and Denver.
Now, the leftist blog Salon has figured out what those with common sense knew all along – holding “woman-only” screenings is both discriminatory and illegal.

Salon grudgingly reported on the theater chain’s apology letter admitting their woman-only screenings violated anti-discrimination laws, writing:
“As it turns out, the complaints have at least some legal merit. Austin city equality codes ban any public accommodation — such as a movie theater — from limiting their services for individuals based on factors including race, color, sex, sexual orientation and gender identification. It’s a situation even Wonder Woman couldn’t fix.”
Salon was promptly roasted for being surprised that discrimination is illegal, when a men-only or straight-only movie theater would immediately draw howls of “discrimination” from the left.

The obvious sexism of the theater chain wasn’t an issue for the left, but Salon at least has been forced to recognize that anti-discrimination laws also can protect straight white men.
Let’s see if the left learns anything before the premiere of Marvel’s “Black Panther,” a film for which leftists have already enthusiastically demanded “all-black” screenings.
