A man in Halifax, Nova Scotia, faces a string of charges, including attempted murder, after he helped fend off armed home invaders.

The Chronicle Herald reports that Kyle Earl Munroe was arrested on July 12 after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Halifax Regional Police responded to a call about a home invasion involving firearms.

According to police, three men entered the residence and a struggle ensued between them and two men inside.

The two men inside managed to seize a gun from one of the suspects during a struggle, leading to several shots being fired. The suspects fled after one of them received non-life-threatening injuries from a bullet.

Of course, as this is Canada we’re talking about, Munroe faces charges despite defending himself and his friend while in the home.

He faces charges of attempted murder, intent to discharge a firearm, intent to discharge a firearm when being reckless, careless use of a firearm, improper storage of a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing that possession is unauthorized, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Chris Hansen, a spokeswoman for the Public Prosecution Service, said: “Right now they’re just pending charges.”

As reported by the Chronicle Herald, Munroe is “is banned from any contact with two named individuals, must attend court as ordered, keep the peace and be of good behaviour, not leave his residence except for essential activities such as work or medical appointments, remain in Nova Scotia, not consume drugs or alcohol, not possess a cell phone or pager, have no weapons, and answer the door to police when they check at his home.”

He is due in court on Aug. 22 for election and plea.

Many on Twitter are not happy with the situation.

LOL. Canucks. This is what happens when a good society has been told for decades how good and noble they are compared to their immediate neighbor to the South. They let it go to their heads, not saying it is true, and then promptly shove their head up their gaygina.

Canada has been lauded as this great white society for so long, they are starting to believe others hype, not just their own.

    Enjoy the decline imbeciles.

    • Dave Allsopp

Libtards are libtards no matter where they live. I agree with your comment to that point; liberals elected this travesty. The problem with resistance in Canada is that the problem areas are in a handful of cities in central Canada which has a California like population base compared to the rest of Canada. For the rest of us to get together is like Alaskans suddenly deciding to rescue sensible people in Southern California. It will get done but takes a lot if careful planning.
Nobody in Canada believes they are this “great white society” because we have every colour under the sun living here in Canada. Most are peaceful, Muslims aren’t. I admit that the Trudeaus’ have ruined Canada.
If your Trump doesn’t get his shit together soon you are going to be in worse shit than we are in Canada. Crap things we’ve gotten from America: BLM, Antifa, Obama’s legacy, George “Dubya’s” legacy. Good things,…………

      • Alec Horne

        Antifa is from Germany.

      • Jesse James

You got that from hair brained libturds of academia. I have seen your colleges/universities, and no thanks. They are as bad, if not worse.

    • JC113

The saying is “The Great White North” … and by the way it’s not called this because of the skin colour of the people, it’s because of the snow and ice we get during our winter months … perhaps you should get your facts straight before you spew your insults !! When your Rolling Stone magazine recently came out with our Prime Minister on the cover there was a statement next to it saying “Why can’t he be our President” … Guess what, you can have him … No charge !!!! And you can fawn all over him as much as you like …

      • Ronald A Collinson

Just make sure he doesn’t come back here

      • Jesse James

No thanks. We had 8 years of one political transvestite street walker, we don’t need another. LOL. I don’t care if it is because of the snow. A lot of Canucks I have seen are snobbish about their politics towards Americans. They look down us like the far left here does.

    • Bwa Ha

Yeah Jesse, they’ll enjoy it like we did ours. And we’re still in a downward spiral. I guess we have to bottom out before we start to rise, eh?

      • Jesse James

Pretty much. I was shocked to see that I agreed with Michael Moore about anything the other day when I saw him quoted as saying “Wisconsin, Michigan, and PA used Trump like a Molotov cocktail to DC.”

Of course, it was all for his usual sanctimonious self-righteous smug hypocrisy, but I have to give it to him there.

        • Bwa Ha

Well, fire does tend to alter, sterilize and otherwise cleanse in its own way. Rather radically most of the time I might add. But maybe Moore hit on something reasonable for once. If so, it was by mistake.

    • Joe Shmoe

The “always nice and helpful” self-image is a big falacy. It is a bunch of passive aggressive people who cannot say what they want or show how they feel to your face then turn around and have this sanctimonious attitude like they were not pissed or offended or what have you.

      • Jesse James

        Yup.

      • Jesse James

Canuckistan is about to enjoy the fruits of its “diversity” for a very, very long time. I have a suspicion that the far-left has been the worst of its enemies. Itself. For they are about to put the nastiest taste of their political ideology on durther display than Obama did. If the media fails to take Trump down, and he wins in 2020 again, watch our cities burn. And then get their guns and find BAMN, ANTIFA, and BLM SJW types to let them know what the good people of this country, of any color, really think about them.

I miss the classical era of liberalism and conservatism. What passes for it these days is nothing short of politicized anal sex of the mouth. I’ll continue to pass as I have since I could vote in the 90s!

Things like this are how revolutions start. Good thing for us that we got President Trump. The true Fascist are the Liberal Left. Pure evil.

  • Keith Benedict

This is the result of giving up liberty for the perception of safety. Many parts of California are headed this way as well.

Would you like to know what the future will be like in Canada? Take an elastic band and stretch it between your two hands, then stretch it out without any regard for the pressure your putting the band under, carry on stretching without a care in the world and see what happens ! Nothing will EVER persuade our rulers to stop trying to stretch our patience, they simply won’t EVER stop because they consider our complaints evidence that they must keep stretching us because only when we agree with everything they do will we be their idea of NICE, and by then of course we will no longer exist which will be even better !

  • Alec Horne

This sounds a little strange and possibly misleading. From the charges, I would think the gun was the home owner’s in the first place. I don’t think we are being told everything.

    • urstoryandurstickingtoit

Unfortunately, it’s true, Alec. It was not the homeowner’s gun. That’s how screwed up we’ve become in Canada under Trudeau and his Liberal bleeding hearts.

      • Alec Horne

I’d like to know more about this. Are there other news articles you can cite?

        • christos808

The media are not likely to cover this story much. I heard about this story yesterday and did a thorough Google search, and all news sources I found pointed back to that short article in the local paper, the Chronicle Herald. From what I gathered from various discussion boards, the “victim” may not have been completely on the up and up, and the attack was not random. Quite possibly this was drug dealers robbing another drug dealer and it went badly for them.

          • Alec Horne

The feel to the article is that there is something missing. Are you Canadian?

          • christos808

Yes, I am Canadian, but this happened in Nova Scotia and I am in Toronto. This story happened in mid-July but it didn’t make the national news here. I only heard about it when U.S. conservative pundits found out about it and the story went viral, around August 1. There is a Canadian firearms discussion board that has had a thread on this topic since the day it happened, but it too only points to the Chronicle Herald article, and no one seems to know anything further.

          • Alec Horne

I asked if you are Canadian because I wanted to ask some rather basic questions about your country just to get straight on things.
            1. Trudeau’s title is Prime Minister?
            2. He is chosen by Parliament, both houses?
            3. I assume he is from Quebec and Quebec is the largest, most populous province?
            4. And not to be intrusive but why are you interested in what US pundits say?

          • christos808

            1. Trudeau’s title is Prime Minister? Yes.
            2. He is chosen by Parliament, both houses? Not exactly. We don’t vote directly for the PM in Canada. We vote for the Member of Parliament in our local riding (more or less the equivalent of a congressman) and the party that elects the most MPs gets to form the government, and the leader of that party – who is himself an MP – is automatically named Prime Minister.
            3. I assume he is from Quebec and Quebec is the largest, most populous province? It’s the largest province by land but second-most populous. Ontario has more people.
            4. And not to be intrusive but why are you interested in what US pundits say? I like to be informed and I like to see how people argue for their positions. Some issues are not really relevant to me, but others are universal.

          • Alec Horne

            Thanks for that.

          • Bwa Ha

Thanks to both of you for that great exchange!

          • Alec Horne

            You’re welcome.

          • Peggy Hounsell Budgell

Your right since the “victim” is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Funny how no one commented on that.

          • Alec Horne

            Trafficking in drugs, not guns?

        • Bill Hyslop

google the name and city and you will see a pile of info.

          • Rhys Corlett

All of which tracks back to “thechronicleherald”.
            More information is required.

          • christos808

There are a lot of comments from various pundits, which all say basically the same thing as this one, but the only piece of actual journalism is that one short article in the Chronicle Herald, which is very light on details. Hopefully, now that this story has gotten national attention in both Canada and the U.S., someone will investigate further.

      • Peggy Hounsell Budgell

Seriously I think it is time for you die hard Conservatives to give it a rest. How is Trudeau to blame for this? He didn’t order the Halifax police to arrest this man. These laws governing the use of weapons don’t change with each new administration. I guess if you fell down the stairs you would find a way to blame that on Trudeau too. Use what ever little bit of brain you have and realize there is more to this story than what is being reported. And he hasn’t been charged yet it only states that he is facing charges which might not even be true.

        • Pinocchio Smith

          It’s obvious! It’s the Russians!

        • Steve O

C’mon. Those laws weren’t passed by the Conservatives.

This is Liberal legislation and Trudeau is the face of his party. Has he ever spoken out against these laws?

  • BooBooBaby

CanaDUH also gave 10 million dollars to a Muslim Terrorist Murderer!

    JusTINE Trudeau needs to go!

This should be caution to Americans and what can and will happen if we ever Elect another DemonRat Libt4rd Traitor!!

    • JC113

Canada didn’t give Khadr the money … it was all Trudeau …. 71% of the population disagreed with his decision !!! We can’t wait until 2019 so we can get rid of him !!!

      • christos808

Do you honestly believe Andrew Sheer has any kind of chance of beating him? The Conservative Party really blew it by choosing him over Bernier. I’m afraid we’ll be stuck with Trudeau for a while.

        • JC113

Perhaps if people vote with their brain rather that because he’s got “nice hair” , there’s a chance

          • Canadian27

            . . . and fancy colored socks, don’t forget.

      • AverageJoe1987

You guys won’t get rid of him.

You Canadians will keep him in office as long as possible.

  • SteveO

“unlawful storage of a firearm” that you took from a home invader? WTF?

    • christos808

That’s when you know the prosecutors are maliciously throwing everything they can at him. The real crime, in their view, is defending yourself. People who can defend themselves, take care of themselves and think for themselves are dangerous to the left.

    • dudley76

Well duuuuh…YEAH!! During the struggle, it was the homeowner’s responsibility to stop fighting with the criminal, and immediately park the firearm in a government-approved firearm safe, which one in Canada must own even if said person owns no firearms.

Is that so hard to understand?? 😛

      • SteveO

Of course, you should not try to disarm someone unless you have already passed a background check and completed a safety course.

        • afvet262

And don’t forget, the firearm you’re taking from the perp MUST be registered to you in order for the disarming to be quasi-legal.

          • Steve O

Even then, you may not use a firearm for self-defense! The laws are very specific.
(This is a different Steve O, by the way.)

  • DaisyToo

  • Joe Ricola

In Canada people are always charged with at least manslaughter in gun related self defense cases. Judges do not send these people to prison ever. It’s just ridiculous that people have to spend thousands of $ in court. Not as bad as you people are making it out to be.

    • Fourfingeredjake

In Canada people are always charged with at least manslaughter in gun related self defense cases…Not as bad as you people are making it out to be.
If that is true, then it is as bad, or worse than we are making it out to be.

  • Jeff

Is this serious? My mind will not process the kind of thinking that could possibly come to a conclusion like this.

  • Roux

    Oh Canada?

  • Danny Allen Ash

Who’s the idiot that charged them!!

  • Jack

And people wonder why here in the United States we fight to keep our Second Amendment. MAGA

  • Todd Chamberlain

Well, let’s not jump to conclusions here. Why don’t we all take a beat, and wait and see how this shakes out? For example – it’s possible that some of those charges stem from other investigations maybe. It’s possible – for example – that the illegal storage of firearms and the illegal possession of firearms might have nothing to do with the actual firearm he took from the Intruder – rather they might have something to do with him being an armed drug dealer with previous drug and firearm convictions. I have no way of knowing of course, but I’m just saying it’s possible that this headline sounds worse than it is.

Don’t get me wrong, I own firearms and if there’s an armed intruder at 2 a.m., I’m going to worry about protecting me and my family first and worry about the legal repercussions second. Absolutely, Canadians need to have the right to protect themselves from an armed intruder and I think everybody here can agree with that.

I’m just saying that this guy might have been a previously convicted, drug dealer, gun dealer, currently on parole, and knows what else. And maybe, possibly, some of these charges might not stem from the actual home invasion event itself.

    • Lorenzo Girotto

      Very valid points.

    • Todd Chamberlain

Yeah, one of the charges in particular, the ‘possession for the purpose of trafficking’ sounds to me like at least some of these charges come from drugs or guns that were already in the house. So yes – it absolutely sounds like the intruders brought guns, but that also some of the guns (and some of the charges) are related to illegal things preexisting in the house by the sounds of it. We shall wait and see – and the details will come out sooner or later. 🙂

    • Jon Fetch

Holy shit, someone with working brain cells- who’s first reaction isn’t demonizing canada, liberals, or ranting about how great the US is. kudos to you sir

    • Steve O

Maybe. All the news stories everywhere seem to reference the same sloppy story that is linked here. When you read the list of charges, they are all gun-related, and a few of them are ridiculous. It’s not hard to see officers adding “trafficking” along with “pointing.”

Although the reporting is sloppy, if there were drugs found in the house, the story would almost certainly have said “drugs.”

  • Myron Gibbs Jr

Well at least we’re not the shit hole Shitcago where it has more murders in one year than all of Canada. WTF kind of society has more murders in one year in 10 of it’s largest cities than ALL of Canada has in 10, yeah, quite the f’kn paradise you clowns live in. Then look at the slums of Detroit, that place should be nuked.

    • Tate Andersen

At least we don’t lack any semblance of testosterone where you must abide by your “good boy points”, and do right by that little princess you call a PM.. Hahaha. Seriously it’s happening here in the US too, but we haven’t given in completely like our Canadian braintrust neighbors or those Eurotrash on the rapid decline, both in population and culture. Remember how South Park portrays Canada? Where everybody drives around on square wheels and breaks out into song every 5 minutes? Yeah that’s definitely spot on, you live in LaLa land. If I was a criminal I would love that big girl Justin Trudeau, knowing I could commit a horrendous amount of heinous crimes and merely apologize to get more “good boy” points. Slums of Detroit.. stop talking.. Chicago and Detroit are PRIME examples of YOUR politics in action. Tax and spend, tax and spend, dip in the coffers.. steal tax money.. get caught.. disappear.. elect another fucking crook, lend criminals rights over the working class, repeat and TA-DA! You have completely dissolved the working class, yeah.. good job bums. This isn’t even a debate, Canada and Europe have turned so gentrified.. I can’t even tell the men from the women anymore haha.

      • Myron Gibbs Jr

You dumb f’ks would rather have a million die at the hands of guns than give up your “God given right” to bear arms, a right that was given over 200 years ago in a totally different age. At least in Canada most of us know how to fight without having to use a gun, you pussies need a weapon to deal with a service truck parked in the front of your house doing service work. Your answer to any question is “chute ’em!” because that’s all you know, violence and that’s why you people are hated around the world. Tell ya what, sew Ol’ Glory to your backpack and go travelling around the world, tell everybody in your loud mouth ways that you’re a ‘Murcan and see what kind of respect you get. At least Canadians are loved and respected. jAnd Detroit and Shitcago are your problems, they are nothing like any city in Canada so don’t bother saying that they are examples of Canadian politics, they are a product of your violent society that doesn’t give a f’k about human life, why, because that’s how you people are raised, worship the gun, kill everything that moves, trust no one…..great society you got going on there.

        • Tate Andersen

Hey.. hey dummy! LEGAL GUN OWNERS AREN’T RESPONSIBLE FOR VIOLENT CRIMES ASSOCIATED WITH ILLEGAL FIREARMS. Babbling on and on in your apparent self-obsession, yet it’s the average Canadian/European that gets the state shaft hahaha. Is it illegal for men to have testosterone in Canada? So proud of your self-deprecating nature, you foolishly mistake it for progress and expect me to listen without any evidence to support your blithering ramblings. Even with STRICT gun control criminals STILL manage to swindle dumbasses such as yourself to take your ample asses to the polls and sacrifice your basic.. basic.. basic right to at least defend yourself.. meanwhile they’re going to work one over on gullible people such as yourself, because they’re not on your side.. not even the fucking state is on your side hahaha.. What a convenient circumstance for the common piece of shit eh? ALL of that for a little more security right buddy? Works well when as a law abiding citizen the state is against you procuring a legal firearm, but does FUCK ALL to prevent criminals and lunatics from purchasing them! Don’t you find it a bit odd that your nanny state devotes MORE TIME to prevent law abiding citizenry from legal avenues, yet they don’t seem to even speak on the matter of illegal markets.. illegal markets that will ALWAYS exist, with or without your precious little gun laws. You’ve been castrated by the state, you have an irrational fear of firearms and you understand little about what you say. How about you reread my comment regarding Chicago and Detroit, I’m actually FROM the midwest so don’t try your Aesop double-talk when I vivisect your inane, babbling “argument” points. Chicago and Detroit’s high crime rates invariably involve firearms, now tell me braintrust.. what makes you think they walk into legal purveyors of firearms and buy these to commit crimes?.. Haha, and if that isn’t your interpretation then your argument doesn’t make any goddamn sense. When you buy you’re put under immense scrutiny, background checks, and you’re put on a federal database. The serial numbers of legal guns may be used to track where they came from.. That’s why criminals purchase guns ILLEGALLY.. Most are fucking felons anyway, and they’re not allowed to even be around firearms. I’ve about had it arguing with neutered, weak men who’ve lost the will to fight back. Go ahead dummy keep believing your fascist government drones have your best interests in mind.. They only care for your vote and silent obedient consent. Hence why this gentleman was arrested by the state for utilizing his testosterone, and rebelling against the bums who take from the working class.

    • happytortuga

OH just wait for your open border policy to bear its fruit. So far, Canada hasn’t had an immigration problem. Can’t wait for you to enjoy all that brings! As for Chicago and Detroit…that’s what you get for over 60 years of leftist politics. So go ahead and celebrate your boy Justin. He’s turning lawful citizens into criminals and handing Canada over to the hordes.

    • CuriousOnlooker

You had a guy who killed a dude by chopping his head off, and proceed to eat him….only do like 9 years in prison.

Just keep importing the 3rd world refugees and putting them on welfare and you’ll have Chicago and Detroit type homicide numbers in no time at all.

Welfare caused our inner city messes and it will cause yours too.

  • ranterator

The sooner we wall off Canada, the better…

  • David Calvani

I must correct Hutch 9 from above. Canada isn’t “starting to suck.” It’s sucked for years now — thanks to its new constitution and activist courts.

  • Charalampos Mitakos

Same shit here in Greece. If you defend yourself you will go to prison. You must stay obidient to thieves, let them rape your wife and daughter and if they are cought they will be out in 2 years for good behaviour. Oh not to forget that they are using burning irons on old peopel so that they tell them where their money are….but NO, you are a criminal to defend yourself and your family.

    • happytortuga

      That’s horrible!

  • Dante Alighieri ????

If you libs had your way the homeowner would be executed for daring to not let the criminal do as they pleased.

We know how you libs always proudly stand with criminals against honest, decent people.

      • Dante Alighieri ????

i was saying that the charge of manslaughter was ludicrous.

i just like u believe he should never have been charged with anything

  • happytortuga

  • Garth Woodward

i would not expect anything less of canada after all WE PAY TERRORISTS $10.000000 WHEN THEY TRY TO KILL US WHAT A FUCKING JOKE any one breaks into your house you kill them dead men can’t talk stick a gun or knife in their hand and say you feared for your life and say he said he was going to kill me and take your chances with a jury

  • Ken Anderson

If the homeowners were Muslim or illegal immigrants, they probably would not have been charged.

  • Stephen Adler

Absolute bullshit, does the prosecutor have his head up his ASS, what stupid Police officer even arrested him, this is why even the liberals are leaving the Party, I would have done the same only I would have shot all three

  • Rekt

Fucking Canada. Go play with Sweden and stfu. Do as you’re told, for your own sake.

  • Robin Kenny

Sounds like it’s about time for a change of government.

  • AverageJoe1987

So in Canada, if a criminal breaks in your house with a gun, you must lie down and smile as they rob you and possibly kill you.

Further proving that liberals always stand against the honest, decent people and always stand proudly with the criminals.

  • Well depending on the outcome of the Trial they need to tell the judge that they would rather be judged by 12 of there piers then carried by 6 of there friends. how absolutely ridiculous ‘ this should not even make it to the Courtroom I’m sure a good Lawyer will make a complete Asshole of the ones drawing up the charges.

  • Matthew Saltarella

I actually thought this was a parody news story. I mean the only thing they didn’t charge him with was Criminal thinking about possessing a firearm. But in Canada I guess you must forfeit your life for the good of social justice. Where is this guys patriotism? I mean for the good of their “Dear Leader” he should have taken one for the team.

  • Whoever is in charge of laying the charges himself, should be charged with stupidity. It’s ridiculous that in Canada, our liberalized laws have more compassion to the criminal element then to the victims of any crime. Our politicians need to strap on some balls and implement punishment suited to the crime and not charge innocent victims of such crimes.

  • Ralloh

This can’t be real. Granted, Canada is infested by mentally ill liberals, but, how can they charge this guy with all those crimes? It wasn’t his gun. The sub-humans brought it with them when they broke in. I guess he was just supposed to submit like a good little sheep.
