NBC’s ever-obnoxious chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell is currently getting dragged on Twitter over her hilariously false claim that yesterday, July 15th, was the 100th anniversary of the United States entering WWII.
Mitchell made her remark on Twitter, quoting a tweet from NBC Nightly News marking Bastille Day in France.
Of course, the United States didn’t enter WWII 100 years ago. WWII hadn’t even started 100 years ago.
A quick Google search would have revealed this to Andrea.
As with her Trump/Russia hysteria, however (more on this later), it appears Mitchell has just decided to make facts up as she sees fit.
She’s currently paying the price for that.
We entered WWII 25 years before it started? @mitchellreports

If only there was a website where this type of information was readily available that you could access in seconds… pic.twitter.com/2Iv9RztK8j

I know that's wrong and I've been drinking Hennessey since 8:30 AM.

Which universe did this event happen in? It sure wasn't this one. Even my public school education says WWII started in 1941 for the US.

WWII you say? You may want to stop getting your facts from CNN.

This isn’t the first time Andrea Mitchell has made a colossal embarrassment of herself.
In April, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov shut Mitchell down as she rudely began shouting questions at U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson as the pair, and several other officials, sat down for an open-doors meeting in Russia.
“Secretary, the Russians don’t believe the intelligence, how confident are you?” Mitchell screeched before the men had even taken their seats.
Lavrov had no patience for it.
“Who was bringing you up?” he fired. “Who gave you your manners?”

Lavrov would again wreak havoc on Andrea Mitchell in May, during another Lavrov-Tillerson meeting following James Comey’s firing as FBI Director.
As Mitchell demanded to know if there was any connection between Comey’s firing and the meeting, Lavrov remarked, sarcastically, “was he fired? You’re kidding. You’re kidding.”
