Student fees are funding new gender-neutral locker rooms at UC Berkeley which will reportedly cost $2.7 Million…
Just when you thought UC Berkeley couldn’t get any worse, they ask you to “hold their beer” while they construct a large, costly “gender-neutral” locker room. The 4,500 square foot $2.7 Million facility is the first of its kind in the California University system and Berkeley seems to enjoy bragging about it. Several departments were involved in the decision and they were all proud to boast that they were bringing “inclusivity and wellness” to all.
This is just the latest in gender-neutral hysteria. Miley Cyrus reportedly introduced herself as gender neutral as well as booze and drug free. MTV gave a brand new award to Emma Watson this year which was gender neutral. Piers Morgan himself pointed out the fatal flaw of not offering men and women separate awards. We have Campus Reform to thank for bringing another gender-neutral fiasco to light – this time at Berkeley.
This isn’t the first time Campus Reform has brought our attention to unbelievable stunts from the left perpetrated on college campuses. Campus Reform even reported that flyers at a college campus called Trump’s MAGA slogan “coded neo-nazi language.” Campus Reform also reported on the fact that University of Colorado announced they would create black-only student housing. Now, Campus Reform has blown the whistle on Berkeley using millions of student fees to fund a gender-neutral locker room.
Berkeley released a statement bragging about the size and scope of the project:
UC Berkeley administration has approved Recreational Sports’ proposal to renovate existing locker rooms at the Recreational Sports Facility (RSF) – the primary fitness and recreation center on the UC Berkeley campus – to include a new 4,500 square foot gender-inclusive locker room. Construction on this forward-thinking project, the first of its size and scope in the UC system, is expected to begin in Spring 2018.
What good is a gender-neutral locker room if they don’t have their own gender-neutral entryway to the pool?
Not only will the locker room offer private changing rooms, showers, lockers and bathrooms stalls, it will also serve as a non-gendered access point to the Spieker Pool lap swim facility.
Associated Students of University California President Will Morrow took the opportunity to virtue signal about inclusiveness…
“This locker room project not only symbolically affirms our campus values of inclusivity and access for all, but it provides a tangible service for students who are currently being underserved. At the core of this project is a commitment to student holistic wellness—physical, mental, and emotional. In providing a safe and inclusive changing space, the RSF is adapting to better serve the wellness of all members of our campus community,” Will said.
“The RSF is a service for all students, so it was imperative to me that students leaders work collaboratively with Rec Sports administration in making this accessible locker room project a reality. The fact that students voted to use their own student fees to go toward this project exemplifies this spirit of cooperation, and commitment to inclusivity for everyone.”
According to The Daily Californian, the project will have an estimated cost of $2.7 million…
The Capital Projects Committee — a campus administrative committee — approved the project last month, Durst said. According to Berkeley Rec Sports senior associate director Trineice Durst, the project is estimated to cost $2.7 million, funded entirely by the Wellness Initiative Fee, a student fee aimed at providing funds for health programs at UC Berkeley.
