Democratic National Committee field workers are considering a class-action lawsuit for allegedly paying sub-minimum wages and no overtime…

DNC field staff, generally the people knocking doors and making phone calls or training volunteers to do so, seem to be upset with their salaries. According to Washington Free Beacon, field staff were paid a flat salary of $3,000 per month – a fairly standard wage for that type of work. However, workers for the DNC who were part of the “fight for 15” aren’t happy that they had to spend long days working hard on a campaign. Perhaps a few of them are still a little bit salty from the fact that the DNC asked all staff members for letters of resignation.

DNC field staffers are considering the lawsuit given the fact that they were working on a campaign that was supposed to change the minimum wage to $15 per hour. Perhaps everyone should feel bad for the Democratic staffers who not only lost an election but were also apparently paid very poorly. Not only that, but Obama staffers are angry they can’t find work after Trump’s win. Now, Democrats are pinning together to fight for a fair wage except this time the enemy is their own party.

Washington Free Beacon cited Justin Swidler, the attorney representing the field workers…

Some of the Democrats’ workers put in 80-90 hours per week, according to Swidler, and got only $3,000 per month in compensation. “They got paid a flat salary of $3,000 a month, which isn’t even minimum wage for some of the hours that they were working,” Swidler said.

The Democratic platform decried the current federal minimum of $7.25 per hour as ” starvation wage” and declared “no one who works full time should have to raise a family in poverty.”

thats $8.33 if they worked 90 hours a week. Not terrible. Maybe don’t work for a flat rate and you won’t get screwed. Maybe they should’ve thought about that beforehand.

    • Plebeian

Yeah, they would have had to work 14 hour days every day in a month to fall under minimum wage, and I strongly doubt these snowflakes worked that hard and on the weekends.

      • anna

Yeah for some reason I also doubt that ????

      • Bawk Bawkbagawk

if they worked that hard, would they still be liberals?

      • Christopher Reeve’s Antibodies

Actually, I suspect they did. In any job where you’re touted as performing a ‘moral’ or ‘community’ service, you get paid less than market value, because you’re competing against people who WANT the feeling/prestige of contributing more than they want the $$$ difference between their pay and what they’d get doing the same job elsewhere.

I did the same for a while in a community legal centre. I don’t regret it long-term – it meant I was doing major jury trials, wrote the chapter on one particular sub-area in the leading lawyer’s practice manual in my jurisdiction, and barely 2 years into working as a lawyer I’d become the major expert in a couple of the subfields within which I worked – basically I got to do stuff that would normally have taken me 10 years of experience, because I was working for about half a school teacher’s salary for people who had literally nowhere else to go (so I was able to skip the professional – and enforceable by loss of practising certificate – requirement to only perform work within one’s experience level, because it was me or nobody for these clients).

Didn’t stop me from leaving because I realised that the centre had no system for giving me a raise without applying for a ‘new job’ against outside applicants, and instantly getting 5 times my salary for easier work when I went private sector (with far shorter hours too – when your clients have nowhere else to go, and they’re facing jail, deserved or not, you don’t count the hours, you just work until you’ve got the best case you’re capable of. In private sector, you don’t do that, because you feel comfortable saying ‘look, this is what I charge, if you don’t like it go elsewhere’).

The only reason I get annoyed at it is because in hindsight I realise that the folks running and funding the place are well aware that young idealistic graduates will go above and beyond, and their entire business model is based on exploiting that. I suspect the DNC are equally aware of this.

Maybe they should have thought…..If they had any proclivity for thought, they wouldn’t be conforming to the leftists.

      • anna

        Amen!

    • Sammie Jo

They’re democrats, they never think ahead.

    • Gene C Clark

depends on where you live… 8.83 is NOTHING for California…cant live on that. But you ar right, they should have thought about it earlier.

  • CrusadaB

I still love you Milo! ????

  • It’s never about any of the issues liberal talking heads claim it is; it’s only about one thing: power. The rest are just lies to get them into America’s pants.

Useful idiots have always been cheap. That will never change.

Look on the bright side, Mrs Clinton crashed on Nov 8. You can join us in gloating. Sue the baxtards all you want. You won’t get anything. You won’t even humiliate them. They do not care about you….fools.

This job pays $18.75 per hour for a 40 hour week. It is essentially a salaried job. With a salary, if you work more than that 40 hours a week, you end up diluting your pay rate.

Therefore, don’t work extra hours for the DNC. Instead, find an additional part-tube job. Or, make the DNC your part-time job, so you can get a better paying full-time job. Then you can better pay for Obamacare.

Meh they are just practicing for when their socialist utopia collapses. this was sarcasm and a joke so please untwist your panties.

It’s like how protestors who stand all day in front of non-union construction sites are temps making minimum wage.

  • Lynette Johnson

These are just the Marxist indoctrinated communists still looking for their free shit!

  • myddrinemrys

This falls under the banner of “caveat emptor.” When you AGREE to work for a flat fee for a job, that is on YOU.

  • DaisyToo

Why did they agree to work for less than the minimum wage?
Meanwhile, back in Realsville, be Very Glad that you weren’t murdered by the Clinton/Obama DNC.

    • fugly

They didn’t work for less than minimum wage. There’s an average of 21.74 work days a month. At 8 hours a day and $7.25/hr., that’s $1261 per month. Even with 50 hours of overtime, it still only adds up to $1804. They would’ve had to work 160 hours of overtime each month to meet the minimum wage threshold.

      • DaisyToo

        ok

  • Sally

No one should have to raise a family while working for the DNC.

Otherwise, geniuses, just work 40 hours a week, and you’re making $18.75 an hour – WELL above minimum wage. Wave goodbye to the DNC after 40 hours, and find a part-time job to supplement your income.

    • 0bsoleteMan

No one should have to raise a family while working for the DNC.

I thought that would be true because they’d have aborted all their children.

  • NASCARDaddy

I laughed when I noticed that their lawyer’s last name is one letter away from swindler.

  • 0bsoleteMan

ROFL… these idiots must not have learned in Common Core History class that the Democrat party was always the party of slavery.

  • MidwestNorsk

When the Marxists have control is when you workers find out that you are now slaves.

    $3000 a month? I could live like a KING on $3000 a month. My take-home pay comes out to ~850 a month.

  • Adnil Yelkam

36K a year for basically unskilled labor…not bad. Working overtime without demanding payment for it is kind of their fault though…
