The account manager for the New England Patriots’ Twitter profile has spoken out against The New York Times following the outlet’s distribution of a misleading photo that suggests more members of the football team showed up to see Obama in 2015 than did for Trump in 2017.

Here’s a screenshot of the original tweet from The New York Times’ sports department.

Following the publishing of that post, several Twitter users responded to it mocking Trump.

Eventually, however, the New England Patriots addressed the tweet, stating it lacks context.

Several users subsequently roasted The New York Times.

The New York Times ultimately published a follow-up tweet clarifying the matter.

  • Steffy93

    Their ignorance is astounding.
It must be so rough to be so stupid.

    • Jim Walters

Not sure the Times staff are ignorant. I think many times they actually know better, but are counting on the bulk of their readership to be too stupid or ignorant to catch their propaganda disguised as news.

    NYT has zero cred. None.

  • Our Bloody Mary Hospital

People are fighting all the wrong things. Racism, all kinds of phobias and hate speech are not what people should be fighting.
Its is actually so much simpler: People have to fight stupidity.

It may require all the people fighting the above phobias, -isms and hate speech to face eventual destruction. Sorry, but you are in the way of true progress.

Sincerely, the not-insane part of humankind.

    • Morne Taute

Just so you know the term mankind includes women too.

      • arena

But that word is not approved by feminazis, thus, is patriarchy vocabulary that needs an activist to work on it and charge 2000 hours of work to the tax funds to find a new suitable word to use instead.

        Not fiction.

      • Sunny Hiller

AND THAT”S MY POINT..Why does one have to qualify every single thing said… GTFU people

    • Dave Silva

the only way to fight stupidity is to actually do things like kick all democrats out of the country. Unfortunately actually doing something is against most republicans agendas.

  • Roxiecolorado

This crap gets down right tiresome!

  • LabiaMajora

  • Dawn Taormino

The problem is, a lot of them are not genuinely stupid, they are purposely stupid!

  • masseywho

So sorry NYT has become the trash news that back in the 70’s they called the NYPost.

  • BruceMichaelGrant

Liberals LIE, ALL the TIME, about EVERYTHING.

    • Margaret Price

Rush said it best. “Liberals lie. Period.” If you keep this in mind at all times, nothing they say or do will ever surprise you.”

  • Elwood Blues

Wow. The NYT can’t even tell the truth about an EFFING PICTURE?????

They’d lie if the truth sounded better!

    • Margaret Price

That’s because truth is a white supremacist construct. (I wish I was making that up.)

  • memphis

    Embarrassing people at NYT

  • When they lie about silly things like this, it makes you wonder, are they lying about important things too? Yes, they are.

  • treblehook

Pathetic. What was the point of the exercise? That the team was protesting Trump so you should too?

Perhaps we need to begin protesting lame news stories in a world full of real events we need to be informed on.

  • Dante Alighieri

OK, the New York Times made a mistake. Get over it. —D

    • ssgtnelson

Uh… no. They purposefully misled people and only after being called out, and mocked, decided to provide the appropriate story. Notice how the media constantly makes ‘mistakes’ to their benefit?

    • Richard Davis

You’d imagine that mistakes, over time, would both benefit the left and right, or harm the left and right, roughly equally. But mistakes nearly always benefit the left and harm the right. At some point one must conclude it’s a mistake to excuse everything as a mere mistake.

  • hoistthatrag

They didn’t even do basic journalism – call the Patriots and ask.

  • True.Epic.Crusader

“The New York Times ultimately published a follow-up tweet clarifying the matter.”
Pfft, as if they didn’t know this from the start. Hypocrites!

    • Judith77

They had to, they were caught with their fake pants down.

  • swampdrainer65

I hope NYC has another 9/11. They are asking for it and deserve it.

  • arena

What is next? With Obama there were lobster canapes and for Trump just measly prawn ones?

    Or, Obama has it bigger?

    Quality journalism!!!

  • Ron Whosoever Williams

That’s the MSM’s modus operandi: report fake news as fact, then offer up a retraction that nobody sees until the damage is done. These stories are nothing but “penis measuring contests in sub-zero weather”. Both sides end up coming up short.

  • RunningBulldog77

    Love Trumps; Hate NYTimes.

  • Big Rob Version 2.0

Meanwhile Devin McCourty was hanging out with a bunch of SJW beta box framed glasses guys.

  • Will Neighbour

    god i love this story

  • Gilbert

  • Stafarian

I don’t care who shows up at Trumps White House.. What I care about is that my man Trump has his fingers on the buttons. His power at the Helm, His Army at the ready, His Supreme Court making decisions. you see… there is more important things then millionaire thugs at the house.

  • The Abstract

Where did the patriots say fewer athletes attended? All I saw was a reference to seating location.

  • Sally

Excuse me. It’s the the FAILING New York Times. Failing big time. I mean, big league. And bigly.

  • Sunny Hiller

What is this a zero sum race who showed who didn’t…this completely distracts from the issues this country has. Shame on NY Times for it’s lack of honesty continuing this nonsense. People were tired of Obama over reach and Hillary may of been anointed by MSM and Democrats but she LOST. Time for the one’s who say they’re the grownups…actually behaving as grownups and care about this country not who wore it better.
