Things did not go very well for an apparent left-wing protester who refused to remove his face mask at today’s march at UC Berkeley.

According to The Gateway Pundit, the man was charged with “obstructing an officer from performing his duties.”

Video uploaded to Twitter shows the man arguing with police as they asked him to remove the mask.

“We want to let you go,” says one officer in the clip. “But we need some help here.”

“I mean, I feel like I’m being criminalized,” comes the reply. “Why would you take a mugshot of me?”

The officer goes on to state that he is not looking to take a mugshot of the man.

“It’s so we can recognize who you are because we need to know,” began the officer before he was cut off by the man inquiring why he ‘needed to know.’

The man was ultimately arrested and – surprise – the mask came off.

See the clip below.

The officer in charge here might as well get a job somewhere else. You KNOW the brass will make his life hard for doing this.

    • Jennifer Sands

Only because the World is watching!

      • O_cult is Dead

        Correct.

      • Fluoric

Keep in mind it’s not only the officers. They take orders from the Chief and Mayor (who’s linked to BAMN).

        • Susie George

Sorry…it is the officers. if my job asks me to do something illegal, or to NOT do my job, and someone is injured or killed, because I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to, I can’t use the “just following orders” line. Neither can they. They swore to uphold the law, and protect the citizens. Just doing what someone tells you isn’t an excuse. Normally, I support police, But they have lost a lot of my respect on this. If they aren’t willing to do their job, and what is right, regardless of the consequences, they are lacking a moral compass and they really aren’t fit to be protecting anyone.

          • Tammie

It’s against the law to protest with a face mask on. End of story. They were entirely within their rights to arrest him.

          • Mauny Kaseburg

            #BlueLivesMatter

          • Anne0135

That’s right they are. My question is why they’re being so polite. If a Conservative or African American were to pull a stunt like this, they’d be cuffed in 2 seconds.

          • Ronald T. Belanger

            And the beat goes on.

          • statutorylove

Incorrect. It is against the law to wear a mask for the purpose of intimidation (a direct response to actions of the KKK) or during the commitment of a criminal act. This person broke no law and his rights were violated the second the officers demanded that he identify himself. An officer cannot demand a person identify himself unless there has been a violation first. They can ask, but if no crime (or violation) has been committed, the person is within his or her right to decline. This interference charge is bogus and will not stand up in court. Unfortunately, this person will most likely be offered a plea to a much lesser sentence (with a large fine) and will take the plea in the interest of closure. Learn your rights.

          • iainnahearadh

            Incorrect.

            A. Face Mask present and worn.

            B. This area previously and recently hosted violence by persons attired similar to this ‘suspect’.

            C. The Police are present at this location, on this day, to control and manage any threats to persons or property, given previous events.

            D. Police at this location are on Private Property, I.E. UC Berkeley Campus, so besides being in violation, as you yourself pointed out, of the ” law to wear a mask for the purpose of intimidation”, this clown is on private property.

            E. Then, as can be clearly seen, the Police gave this Clown more than enough chance to comply with the law.

As for your armchair rights, you might want to quote an actual lawyer, as the original charge would stick.

As for your legal rant, the question isn’t would this aspiring little thug be charged with a misdemeanor offence, the real question is, would a Snow Flake Liberal Judge in California actually enforce the law?

          • Nam Plahman

You weren’t there. You didn’t see what happened just prior to the video tape rolling. He was intimidating and interfering with Trump supporters refused to comply with the directions of another female police officer. That’s why he was confronted in the first place.

          • Patty Rogers

City law that says “no masks in public places”.

          • Ryan Thompson

Your name makes you sound like a pedo… Get outta here chicken lover

          • Randy Hart

People are getting tired of all this protesting and its time that you get on with your life and find something constructive to do. You are NOT going to change anything!!! This country was going down the drain with Democratic leadership. Have you all forgotten 9-11?? Is it going to take a large terrorist
strike for you to open your eyes??

          • Joel Heifferon

are you kidding me?!?! the biggest problem is that 90% of the protesters don’t remember 9/11. I was lucky enough to not lose anyone, yet i still get emotional and the verge of tears when I think about the incident. Everyone remembers where they were at that moment.

          • Juan Rafael Fortuño Faviz

They don’t have to protect citizens, the Supreme Court ruled that Law Enforcement is just that, only there to enforce the laws, not protect citizens. Do some research!

          • Iruleyoulose

Please show the case where officers are not their to protect life and property. That is part of the law. Must be an illegal

          • Edward

He’s right. The Supreme Court did rule that while officers are tasked with protecting life and property, they are not required by law to do so. Example: Your home is burglarized. Therefore you sue your local police department for not protecting your home. Police can’t be everywhere and anywhere at the same time. Therefore, the Supreme Court issued this ruling to protect police from frivolous lawsuits.

          • Dom Martin

its written on the cars”to protect and serve”

          • Justin D Horn

Get current about local laws before you run your soup cooler, geeze.

          • Claytonasrealasitgets

You do as your told if you want your pension. They are following orders and I know that to some people that doesn’t mean much but if your future and the future of you children are at stake you do as your told.

          • Anne0135

Their job is to protect and serve. Not preserve their pensions.

          • Anne0135

Thank you, Susie. I couldnt agree more. And what you say is 100% true.

      • D.J. DelliPaoli

UC Berkeley is being sued so the cops don’t want to be next or the mayor. Some people have to learn the hard way.

        • Linda Arnold

Absolutely, they don’t want to lose their pensions when the law suit comes down.

    • FF

      KEKUS VULT!

    • memphis

Surprised they still remember how to arrest people.

    • JD Hart

Rumor has it “cough cough” that several militias contacted police forces in their areas and informed them if they were not willing to do their jobs that they would be relieved of duty by a civil code from 1919 or 1909 that allows citizens the authority when police officers are not following the law.

  • Teresa King

Another puny little protestor who thinks he can do whatever he wants. Bravo Berkley police! Hey, puny little protestor…..why not don a uniform and fight for this country? Coward!

  • Fisty McSquintytits
  • peter piper

    Gilligan?

  • SallyForth

If the police had enforced the law at Milo’s original speech at Berkeley by de-masking Antifa rioters and cracking down on them, we would not have had the subsequent violent flare-ups we’ve seen in other cities.

Instead the police were ordered to stand down and Trump supporters then felt like they had to kit themselves out in armour to defend themselves.

    • Todd Farmer

I’ve been saying the same thing, if they unmasked them at the Milo protest, antifa wouldn’t exist..once they saw what they can get away with, they got stronger…thank god I live in Florida, cops here can do their jobs!

      • JD Hart

Hell, they’ll shoot you in the back and call it self defense in South Miami Heights and no one will even question it.

    • NoTreading

They were ordered to stand down by the mayor – who has been connected to antifa.

    • ShikokuPrincess91

Surely that is a violation of your Constitution?

      • Lee Wro

So is oppressing free speech, rioting, battery, etc.. When you push too far, too far is what you get.

        • ShikokuPrincess91

          Huh?
The people rioting are who I am talking about silly goose!
It is not against the American constitution for a mayor to have the police not protect one side or the other?

If the mayor is Antifas isn’t that against the constitution if he tells the police not to protect the Trump siders?

          • Lee Wro

I was just engaging in conversation. I didn’t take your comment to be in favor of the thugs! I apologize for any misunderstanding of my intent. Your observation was spot on and 100% accurate.

      • DaisyToo

What would be the Constitutional violation? The US Constitution doesn’t gaurentee a right to mob violence. It does, however, protect the right to free speech.

        • ShikokuPrincess91

          The constitutional
Violation would be that the mayor is a member of the rioters. If he is siding against government it doesn’t make sense!
Why would it be ok for an Antifa mayor?
He should be made to quit his job since he is now part of terrorists.

          • DaisyToo

Thanks for clarifying your comment. The mayor may not be abiding by state or regional laws, but given the lack of solid info about his actions, I’m not certain his behavior rises to treason.

      • Badenuff

Using the Constitution to protect your right to deny the rights of others will fail in court.

        • ShikokuPrincess91

          Huh?
          I an not American.
It doesn’t make sense for a mayor to be part of a terrorist group.
          We do not
          Have that so I am
          Confused.

          • Lyn Wright

The mayor stated he followed them on Facebook to “see what they are up to” and that he was not a member.

          • VerifyEverything

yeah and Hillary used a cloth to wipe her server. No cred.

  • Sid Whittaker

The only problem I see in this is, Even though Antifa haven’t showed up..They will probably be watching and recording the faces of students that have come to support this rally..Hoping to later target this individuals, on their own at a later date.
So by all means comply with the police and reveal your face and identity .but the police should be allowed to offer this action, off camera.

    • January

I’m confused by your comment. The guy who had his mask taken off, why would Antifa go after him. From what I got out of it is he was not a supporter of Trump or the rally for him.

      • JD Hart

I think he is confused,,, period.

    • Steven Smith

Why would antifa target this individual he is essentially on their side, that is why he needs to cover his face, that is why they all cover their face because they intend to break the law…

      • Mephysto

They target individuals in europe and they can get nasty when you are all by yourself. That is the way of the coward. After the beat down they recieved I bet they will go back to these tatics.

    • JD Hart

When you go in public, nothing is private, No special service should be allowed to tyrants. You must be one of them

  • Steffy93

Reason for arrest – pure stupidity.

    • Jim Southerland

“stupid in public” is the major cause for arrests. The cops find something else to actually charge them with.

  • January

Today on ABC Good Morning America they were putting the Antifa down. The topping on that cake was when they played a video of Bill Maher. You know the guy on the left. He called them “F**king Babies” and it only got better from there after they bleeped that out. Here’s a couple things he said: “Berkeley used to be the cradle of free speech, and now it’s just the cradle for f**king babies,”. The next comment really got me. The liberals are always throwing the term Nazi at us but Maher said: ““I feel like this is the liberal version of book burning — and it’s got to stop,”. We all know who burned the book in Germany. It’s about time the police start putting them down. But of course it made national new so maybe that’s why they are finally doing their jobs.

    • Pat Patrix

When you’re too liberal for Bill Maher you know something has gone wrong.

  • DaisyToo

This guy’s voice, w/its rising Valley Girl inflections, is SO annoying.

    • kamenetz

      Like whatever 😉

    • David Watts

      Fer shurrr.

    • OreWaSpyke

IIRC there’s a psychological reason as to why everything has that “Questioning” inflection, if someone sounds like they’re “asking a question” when explaining something to you, it means they haven’t truly grasped the fundamental logic and reasoning behind it themselves. In short they’re asking you to believe them and have no true conviction behind what they’re saying.

Not always mind you, just it’s a sign you need to be truly sceptical of what they’re saying.

      • DaisyToo

        Interesting. Thanks for your observation.
Teenagers are apt to speak this way. A problem w liberal parents is they tend to ignore the question buried in the statement and go straight for the adulation of whatever the kid is saying. Apparently, this young man is the product of adulation substituted for guidance. The parents have left their job to the cops.

Of course, Leftist newscasters do something akin to this, but w a different twist. They spout propaganda points and slap a question mark on the end. Sean Spicer deals w them masterfully! 😉

        • OreWaSpyke

See that is where it gets more sinister for me, it’s one thing to be busy and just not catch the logical flaws in something your kid says but I think (and it’s just me) that folks need to be way more careful and watch for the signs that their kids are being indoctrinated in beliefs that are just wholly nonsensical by adults in positions of authority. Adults that are clearly screwing with them in order to push their own political agenda’s. Right or left wing, we need to teach kids to catch this or we’re doomed to repeat this nonsense again and again.

Look at modern colleges, filled with a whopping 85% of left leaning professors to the point it’s a totally homogeneous view being pushed. This isn’t how we educate the people of tomorrow. As for the media, yeah you can really see through the bullshit these days, thankfully the internet is a true open market of ideas and information, it’s why you should never support censoring and regulating it.

          • DaisyToo

            I think you’re correct.

  • coolinthem

    Dam moron.

  • Muslim Registry

  • RapeyYogurt

Antifa got an Asian guy to put on a medical mask! HaHaHaHa!!!!!! The irony is almost as delicious as my yogurt!

    • cojar

This arrest was probably staged. The medical mask gave it away

      • JD Hart

Yes. then he begs to be unmasked for the camera. Making an example Hollywood style.

  • The Delivery Dude

I watched a video from Auburn in Alabama… they have a law designed for the KKK that disallows people showing up in large protest groups with masks on… once the cops took their masks off… they disbanded and nothing happened… so.. basically, every police department in the country can simply remove their masks, and all the violence can be avoided… Antifa is nothing without their anonymity.

  • Pat Patrix

    Pussy.

  • Black Hat

Nice. Protest all you want but it is illegal to hide your identity for the purpose of evading prosecution.

  • cojar

Probably set it to make it appear that Berkeley police are doing their job. They probably let the guy out around the corner

  • JZ7

  • John P

He should have cited medical for why he didn’t want to take the mask off. Say that he’s immunocompromised.

    • JD Hart

They’d have to arrest everyone in China and India

  • CSATejano

    Charge him with terrorism.

    • DFresh

      Sad but warranted..

    • Jim Southerland

Mexico city riot police, one machine gun, dozens of dump trucks and some place deep to bury the bodies. Mexico has not had a riot since 1992. The police killed so many students that they hauled the bodies away in dump trucks. No body know even how many dump truck loads were carried away.

      • JD Hart

Feed them to the starving refugees. 2 fer 1

  • Adel Abo Hassoon

FAKE FAKE FAKE,…. This was staged in an attempt to vindicate the police for their lack of action in previous encounters,…. If this was real violence would have most definitely ensued

    • AverageJoe1987

      I agree.

The police just want people to see that they are willing to arrest Antifa members.

Like this one incident makes up for the two times Antifa was out in full force that the cops sat by and did nothing. And like it makes up for the next time they sit by and do nothing.

  • Brian Martin

I would have said its a germ mask. I don’t want to catch anything. Thats a legal excuse.

    • Alexander Barna

im sure you woulda been all tough there snowflake

  • Brad D. Simonson

This bitch wanted to do some harm, which is why he didn’t bring any ID with him.

    • JD Hart

You do not have to have ID in the USA while on foot. Only operating a vehicle.
As long as you give them true identity and they can verify it. What can happen is you get a 5555 bail bond $ code and no one can get you out until ID is produced.
Oath Keepers made that clear as a non-partisan group

  • Rob B

There’s people with shorts on and stuff why this guy got on 3 coats

  • Heather Noble

OBVIOUSLY there has been a change in orders because this is the same cop that sat back the last time and said “call the public information officer.” GOOD.

    • AverageJoe1987

That’s the same cop who sat back and refused to do anything last time?

That just proves this was staged to make the police in Berkeley look good.

  • Mauny Kaseburg

They probably relieved they finally get to do their job…they were taking selfies with protestors.

  • ShikokuPrincess91

    Notice he is Chinese.

    It’s always the same.
“You side with them over us while the whites won’t date us too, because they make us weak in movies.”

Always the grievance and the hatred of Asian women for loving Caucasian men.
Thats 100 percent why they hate America.
I’ve stopped apologizing and caring. Why would I want a weak man like this girl Chinese? Much rather be with the cop. At least he could keep me safe lol.

  • RunningBulldog77

Why is it that Asians typically, not always, but typically favor the liberal, leftist view point? The majority of Asians usually congregate in large leftist, progressive cities. Not many can be seen volunteering for service in the military, but the’ll get out and protest, sometimes violently against any conservative stance.

    • Susan

Because they are here for their education and then they bail back to their country.

  • Susan

It should be against the law to cover your face in public, period (sans riding a motorcycle). No worries for Sharia Law and babies that do not want to get arrested and actually have to be responsible for anything. I can’t go protest today (I live in wretched Cali) because I am busy making sure my uncovered face looks impeccable for my husband, his home is clean and his homemade dinner is ready after a long work-week.

  • Judy Latty

He took off his mask…….after he got arrested,….lol

  • Jesper Pettersson Tholén

Where did you get “refusing to remove his mask” from? It was clearly he himself who asked if he could take the mask off and then the police did it for him.
