MSNBC host Rachel Maddow’s show has seen a sharp decline in ratings following her Trump tax return debacle.

According to AdWeek.com, Maddow’s show saw record-high ratings on Tuesday – the day she promised the now-infamous tax return scoop – with a whopping 4.13 million viewers.

On Wednesday, however, AdWeek.com reports the show’s ratings dropped a whopping 36% total.

Among 25-54-year-olds in particular, ratings dropped an incredible 54% between Wednesday and Tuesday.

This drop in ratings, of course, is hardly surprising given the reaction Maddow’s show received.

On the night of the now-infamous flop, Maddow got absolutely skewered on Twitter.

Geraldo Rivera – the man behind the famous “Al Capone’s vault” letdown in the 80s – also let loose on her, saying he was passing on the public failure torch.

Even Jimmy Fallon skewered Maddow the next day, describing her show as “a letdown.”

“What you revealed last night wasn’t that scandalous,” he said. Maddow agreed.

Meanwhile, on Twitter, many users are reacting with glee to news that Maddow’s TV ratings have tanked.

The only thing bigger than Maddow’s level of failure is the MSNBC itself for letting their dog off her leash. As you can tell she took a dump on the carpet and is now just standing there looking proud of what she’s done.

I can’t wait to see her in front of a judge trying to explain the First Amendment.

  • Manius

Dumb bitch gets a ratings bump thanks to TDS, and she’s stupid enough to throw it away already. Hahaha

  • Barry

That poor man doesn;t understand what fake news means, someone should explain it to him ASAP

    • dsoberg

      Explain it to me.

I’m really glad to hear that, but …… was it an expected decline following a blockbuster event, or a decline from her normal ratings – caused by the dishonest hyping of a non-story?

Let’s not be like the fake news networks and start manipulating facts and data.

What are her average ratings pre-tax-show, and was there a significant drop-off from those ratings?

  • David C. Smejkal

Doesn’t this just mean her numbers went back to normal?

She is taking heat because she screwed up and showed Trump indeed pays his taxes. Democrats really wanted to keep the lie that he doesn’t pay taxes going. Democrats rely so heavily on lies (with the help of the media) that those that tell the truth are punished.

    • dsoberg

Trump indeed pays his taxes.— Ya, for the ONE year.

    • dsoberg

Everybody knows he pays taxes. Democrats want his Tax Filings to confirm the nefarious business he does with Russian Oligarchs.

Still going on about the Russian thing, all while ignoring the fact that John Podesta and his brother both lobbied for Russian interests? Hypocracy at its finest, still waiting for proof Trump had anything to do with Russians.

When I saw this on Fox I remembered how Milo likes to refer to maddow as “that handsome fellow.” That still cracks me up.

    • Love of Country

Well luckily I’m no one famous but I call her mancow ….. It’s illuminating and all-encompassing and so hopefully that will entertain you some too 😀

        Hahahaha

  • the -36%, and -54% in the 25-54 age group demo, from the prior night was to be expected after touting a major event, even had it turned out to be a somethingburger… the real story here is a -9% and -16% in demo drop from the prior week… that’s something to keep an eye on since she has enjoyed a huge ratings increase since Trump’s election, and CNN’s ineptitude…

    • dsoberg

The median age of a prime time Fox News viewer is 68, according to Nielsen. That means half of the channel’s viewers are older than 68.

Like Trump they were born shortly after the Neolithic age. -D. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/bc31af9e8d26faa7f3868039be4bc039b8761ac2289bda027b4bea1987591bf9.jpg

      .

      • what does this say about the other outlets?… not much… all broadcast and cable outlets have a tired old message, ie. an agenda… Fox News began dominating the ratings in less than 10 years from their inception and haven’t looked back… that’s 15 years of domination with 68-year-olds, the first wave of whom are now 83… and why hasn’t the competition been able to keep members of the 25-54 demo they often win when they turn 55?… they’ve had 15 years to build an audience and they’re still getting their asses kicked…

  • dsoberg

“What you revealed last night wasn’t that scandalous,” Fallon said.

Maddow agreed. At least she admitted it. Something conservatives rarely do. (David)

Ugly as they may be, Madcow isn’t going to be able to wear those sneakers in jail.

  • Thomas Crane

I think it’s safe to say she’ll always have a job at MSNBC. It’s just a matter of time before they yank her out of her timeslot for someone that may bring in more ratings.
