The Huffington Post’s “Women” page put out a call for women reconsidering having children following President Donald Trump’s election victory and the responses are every bit as triggered as you’d expect.
It didn’t take long for the Huffington Post’s most triggered readers to make an appearance.
“All the white people with ‘it’s a 4 year cycle blah blah blah’ your literal privilege is showing,” declared Facebook user Artemis Arae. “If that’s all you think the decisions they are making, the hate they are spreading, and the small mindedness towards other cultures and religions is then you have no idea what’s really going on. Sure, he’s only there 4-8 years. But that’s a lifetime for some.”
“This election gave me a million more reasons NOT to have children,” declared Whitney Hasenkopf.
Hayden Selchow wrote, “women aren’t the only ones who can get pregnant um.”
Not everyone was triggered, mind you. Bob Hardy wrote, “if one is reconsidering having children based on a 4-8 year electoral cycle it is a good thing they are limiting their gene pool.”
Ji Shin replied to that comment by declaring, “must be nice to be so disconnected from the hardship of women’s everyday life and survival as to be able to write off issues such as reproductive rights, access to healthcare, economic injustice, normalized gendered violence, safety based on skin color or sexual orientation, and poisoned food and water as a ‘4-8 year electoral cycle.'”
“As a child-free woman myself, I even think this is ridiculous,” stated Natalia Munoz.
She was quickly shunned.
“The mess he will create is beyond comprehension,” insisted Margaret Parisi Fazzone.
“He will eventually be gone, but the people who support him remain,” wrote Nicole Byram. “Bring a kid around people like that? I don’t think so.”
