A lot of people have called Trump ‘Hitler’ or a ‘Nazi’ – so Independent Journal Review interviewed a woman born in Nazi Germany and asked her what she thought about the conflation.
We are going through a unique period of time where those on the left see it fit to compare Donald J. Trump to Hitler, or his policies to Naziism. Whether it’s MSNBC anchors comparing Trump’s speech to Hitler’s or Martin O’Malley comparing fighting Trump to fighting Hitler on Twitter – you’ve probably heard it all yourself. Even on our own college campuses, there were flyers saying Trump’s Make America Great Again Slogan is ‘coded neo-nazi language’.
Independent Journal Review interviewed Marion Ingeborg Andrews, who according to IJR was born in Dusseldorf, Germany during Hitler’s reign. She had a lot to say about the current political climate.
Trump, not actually Hitler?
“What is going on in this country is giving me chills. Trump is not like Hitler. Just because a leader wants order doesn’t mean they’re like a dictator.”
But wait, who does she think IS actually like Hitler? You’re going to love this.
“What reminds me more of Hitler than anything else isn’t Trump, it’s the destruction of freedom of speech on the college campuses — the agendas fueled by the professors.”
Could it be that perhaps she’s referring to incidences such as the violent anti-Milo riot at Berkeley? Maybe she’s thinking about the time Grand Valley State University students were threatened with arrest for distributing the U.S. Constitution, or she could be remembering when campus police took down a free speech demonstration because they didn’t have ‘prior approval’ from the administration.
Andrews went even further, talking about how Hitler actually started.
That’s how Hitler started, he pulled in the youth to miseducate them, to brainwash them, it’s happening today… It saddens me that we are teaching garbage in the schools and in the college. We don’t teach history anymore. History repeats itself over and over.
Most can recall many stories from recent memory that could very well be considered an attempt to ‘miseducate’ or ‘brainwash’ in colleges and universities. She’s right, it is happening today in colleges all over America. Whether it’s a professor telling their students they don’t have to open their heart to white Trump voters, or professors giving a day off of class to protest Trump, it seems to happen everywhere – without fail.
Andrews had something to say about all of the protesters, and the professors inciting them too.
“America needs to grow up. The young people who are rioting and destroying property, who have no respect for elders and freedom of speech, I was so proud to become a citizen of this country…
“Professors shouldn’t be telling their students to go after freedom of speech. They should be telling them that this is the greatest country in the world. The demonstrators can’t tell you why they’re demonstrating. I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Democrat. I just want the country to be at peace…
Finally, Andrews drove her point home with a warning about propaganda.
…I see what is happening here reflecting some of the things we saw in Germany, and it’s terrifying. It’s sad. But it’s not because of Trump. It’s because of poor education.
Trump is not like Hitler. The theory that he is is propaganda. Yes, I lived through some of Nazi Germany, but all you have to do is read some books about that period to see how wrong that theory is.”
